Xavier Dolan, French-Canadian actor, director, and 2015 Cannes Film Festival Jury Member, was seen at Cannes wearing a vintage pompadour as well as voluminous waves. Both haiestyles are hot for summer and each has a few unique advantages, but which one wins? Let's take a closer look...
This is the style that made Elvis Presley's hair iconic. The pompadour is the look he sported from the 1960-70s. It requires wax to get the right level of hold and styling cream in order to be slicked back. Wondering how it's done? Work the wax into your hair to play up texture and then use the cream to smooth it back. It's a classic look, so its wearer just might be able to get away with a little clean-cut image on the street in contrast to some of the more radical 'bad boy' styles.
Voluminous waves are an alternative to the very sprayed and stiff styles that are quite popular at the moment. The top length is around four or five inches, which allows for plenty of curls and volume! For this look, you'll want to work a fixing mousse throughout damp hair and then twist various sections along the top. Dry the hair in twists so that it forms soft waves when brushed through using your fingers. Finish with hairspray to complete the look!
Which look is better? They both have their benefits, so it's really a matter of personal preference. Personally we like them both and think they're equally on-trend for this spring/summer. Vote for your favorite above!
