Despite being one of the Fashion world's biggest beauty trends, wet-look hair definitely isn't the most wearable look on the planet. That said, there are many subtle, sleek hairstyles that are surprisingly accessible and nowhere near as intimidating as some of the ultra-intense slicked-back 'dos we've grown accustomed to on the runway.

The secret to wet-look hair
As with most hairstyles, the key to making a wet-look 'do work in the real world is taking a 'less is more' approach when styling.
Start with a small amount of regular strength gel and sweep it evenly through your hair. Add more gel as needed, then smooth it down with a comb and your hands for a loose wet-look hairstyle.
If you want to add shine to an updo, apply a slightly smaller amount of gel to the top half of your hair only, then style the rest as you normally would to create a low bun or chignon. You can also use just a small amount to smooth down the sides of a pomp or high chignon.
If you aren't used to wearing a full-on wet look hairstyle and want to work your way up to it, try using a hair oil to smooth down the lengths of your hair instead. It will give you a more understated sheen and nourish your hair at the same time.
What do you think? Are you feeling brave enough to try a subtle wet look hairstyle of your own?
