Starting with clean, towel dried hair, apply a smoothing heat protectant cream from roots to ends.
Divide your hair into three large sections - top, middle and nape. Clip the top two out of the way so you have plenty of room to work on the bottom. Blow-dry each section completely, using a paddle brush to keep individual pieces of hair straight.
Once all of your hair is dry, spritz a heat protectant spray all over and use a flat iron for any further straightening.
Gather your hair into a tight, low ponytail, securing it roughly an inch above the nape of your neck. Divide the pony into three or four sections and braid each one individually.
Wrap the braids around each other to form a bun shape, then secure it with bobby pins. You'll need to tack down the outside of the bun and use a few pins to keep everything in place in the middle, too.
To add shine and prevent flyaways, mist your finished updo generously with finishing spray.
