A new hairstyle has made its way to the red carpet: the "pun" is a combination of a ponytail and bun. Rolling your eyes? Don't be so skeptical! We predict this hairstyle will definitely be climbing the ranks in 2016.

Straight off the runway

This hairstyle originated with Luke Hersheson, favorite hairstylist of British designer Jonathan Saunders. The look was first spotted on the runways of Fashion Week A/W 2015-16, paired with a bold hair accessory. Indeed, this unique hairstyle could only come from one of the most fashion forward minds in hair!

A year later, the look finally hit the red carpet. The first to try it? Naturally it was Rooney Mara, who continues to impress us in truly unconventional looks and push the fashion agenda. Only a few weeks later we spotted Amber Heard rocking the bold and modern look paired with an androgynous suit. We loved this fresh alternative to her typical seductive sense of style.

The "pun", a trend to try in 2016

Since the pun could very well become THE hairstyle of 2016, we suggest you try it before everyone else does. Plus, it couldn't be easier! Simply secure your hair into a ponytail at the top of your head and then twist it down to the ends, allowing it to begin rolling into itself. Before you get to the ends, however, secure them to your scalp with a stylish clip or barette, and then finish with a mist of hairspray.

Easy enough, right? So what do you think: would you try the pun hairstyle?
