Now that summer is finally upon us, it's time to make sure your hair is as ready for a vacation as you are. Whether your hair is long, short, medium, straight, curly or wavy, it's a universal truth that sun, sea, sand and chlorine aren't exactly conducive to keeping it looking healthy and beautiful.
So, whatever your plans this summer, you'll need to show your locks some extra TLC!
Hydrated hair is happy hair!
One of the most important things you can do for your hair during the summer is moisturizing it as much as possible. This means treating your hair to a deep conditioning mask at least once if not twice a week, and always using a regular conditioner when you wash your hair - especially after a day spent poolside or at the beach!
Top tip – To bring your parched ends back to life, make sure you apply hair oil regularly. This will replenish lost nutrients and moisture, helping to keep the strands smooth healthy-looking.
Kiss your heat tools goodbye
When temperatures start to soar, it's a good idea to take a break from heat styling. Not only is it good for your hair to have a rest from time to time, a full-on blowout can be just plain unpleasant when it's a bazillion degrees out. Instead, try some heat-free styling techniques to get the look you want.
Top tip – For perfect surfer girl waves, spray damp hair evenly throughout with salt spray then loosely twist and pin it into a bun or loop it around a headband before you go to sleep. When you wake up, remove the pins/headband and shake out your hair Baywatch style. Re-spray and scrunch the ends to finish.
Humidity AKA frizz's evil BFF and trusty sidekick can be a serious bugbear for a lot of people during the summer. Fear not, with the right products, you can totally stay on top of it, just make sure to invest in a high-shine finishing spray!
Top tip – For a quick fix, spray some hairspray into the palm of your hand then firmly smooth it over any troublesome frizzy areas.
Whatever your vacation plans, make sure you take care of your hair!
