Just like jelly sandals, pigtails are steadily making the transition from childhood memory to slightly chicer adult reality, as demonstrated by Suki Waterhouse and Alexa Chung.
The big question is, who wore them better?
Suki opted for a simple set of bunches which did a great job of showing off her brand new brunette hair color. Bunches are an easy way to wear pigtails in a grown-up way.
With the hair gathered in two halves, one behind each ear, Suki's mid-length mane was kept under control without overwhelming the rest of her look.
If you're looking for something cute but not overly so, this hairstyle could be perfect for you!
Alexa Chung is never one to shy away from a new fashion, beauty or hairstyle trend, so we weren't hugely surprised to see her rocking some adorable braided pigtails, à la Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2014.
Somehow, she managed to make them look pretty without being unbearably sweet... while dressed in a lemon yellow sweater. (We know, we think she's probably a very stylish sorceress of some kind.)
If you've always been tempted by the Million Dollar Baby look but lacked the fierce boxer credentials, this hairstyle is definitely something you need to try!
We love both looks and take out hats off to both Suki and Alexa for choosing their pigtails so well. Each style was totally gorgeous, but for sheer ease of styling (read: laziness), Suki's bunches get our vote.
What about you? Whose pigtails do you like best?
