If proof were needed that tousled braids are effortlessly sexy and beautiful, Canadian actresses Nina Dobrev and Shay Mitchell provided it in spades at this year's Teen Choice Awards on August 10. Both hit the red carpet in Los Angeles with two very covetable side-parted styles that were full of volume and texture without looking try-hard.
The big question is, whose braid was the bigger success?
The Vampire Diaries star Nina opted for a thick, rope twist teamed with loose, tousled pieces at the front. Her style seemed effortlessly gorgeous and did a great job of showing off her blonde and copper highlights.
If you're an ombre gal looking for a new style to show off your two-tone locks, why not take a leaf out of Nina's [look]book? With some volume mousse and some salt spray on hand, it's an easy 'do to imitate.
Smoldering side part
One of the great things about side parts is that they allow you to make the most of your 'best side'... which is just what Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell did. That said, it's hard to imagine she has a bad side. With a classic three-strand braid and a ton of volume, her hairstyle was undeniably sultry, compounded by her choice of deep cherry lipstick.
To recreate Shay's look, spray your hair with a volumizing hairspray and tease it a little before you start braiding. This will boost volume and give your hair that artfully mussed, windswept feel.
