As always, Blake Lively brought her A-game to the 2016 Met Gala red carpet, surprising us with her rule-breaking romance meets robot look. While her dress emanated a fantastical fairy-tale appeal with its soft blush shade and floral embellishments, her hair told a different story. The L'Oreal Paris ambassador took her hairstyle inspiration straight from another planet, pulling her long blonde locks into a Princess Leia-inspired twisted chignon of the future.

PRINCESS LEIA-INSPIRED TWISTED BUN
The secret to a great up do? Thick, healthy hair! Before you begin your chignon styling, wash your hair with a densifying formula like L'Oreal Paris' Fibralogy Thickening shampoo and conditioner, for maximum body.
Use a thermal protective spray on your hair and dry with a brush and blow dryer. While drying, tilt your head forward and down for maximum volume.
Pull your hair back from your head and tie it into three different sections, secure each section with an elastic on the back of your head from low to high. With a comb, gently back comb the lengths of your hair to give them volume and texture.
Take the centre ponytail and wrap it into a bun. If necessary, put an elastic around the base to ensure perfection. Secure with bobby pins.
As for the two ponytails that surround your new bun, twist them into a rope-like texture and wrap them around the middle bun for an extra-large chignon.
For a hairstyle that lasts, finish off your Princess Leia-inspired locks with a generous amount of satin hairspray. Spray your fingertips with the product and run them through the sides and top of your hair to smooth any frizz.
