Especially during the summer months, the messy bun is easily one of our favorite go-to updos so we were more then pleased to see it appear on the runways of Paris Fashion Week - Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2014-2015. Our beloved, messy 'do is officially on-trend!
Mostly due to it's mussed texture, there's something wonderfully sexy about this easy hairstyle. It's one of the very few 'dos out there that seem to look even better when the hair is not freshly washed, and there's something about it that just seems to make the wearer look like they just rolled out of bed looking amazing! If that's not a win-win hairstyle, we don't really know what is.
If you've already managed to perfect the loose, disheveled look, then why not try out this version of the look, as seen at the Antoni Ortega show. It incorporates one of the hottest hairstyles to have emerged from these shows: braids!
Here's how to get it...
Starting with towel-dried hair, spritz some Silk & Gloss 24h Curl Enhancing Spray by L'Oréal Paris throughout the lengths of your hair, focusing on the ends. Then, either blow-dry your hair using the diffuser setting or, better still, allow it to air dry.
Give yourself a rough side parting with your fingertips on whichever side you feel most comfortable with. Then, braid one side of the hair loosely, fixing it at the end with a clear hair elastic.
To achieve the slightly frizzy, windswept look of this style, use a wide-tooth comb to gently backcomb random sections of loose hair all over your head.
When you're done teasing, twist the hair (including the braid) into a low, loose bun and secure in place with bobby pins as needed. You want it to look all disheveled and precarious but it should feel totally secure.
Pull a few small strands of hair loose from the bun for an extra tousled effect. Mist with hairspray to finish the look.
So there you have it, an on-trend messy bun, hot off the runway. Happy styling!
