After what seems like an eternity of slick barbershop fades, it's just possible there's a new style in town to be reckoned with. Longer haircuts are slowly starting to pick up speed in the race to become the year's hottest grooming trend so it might just be time to relinquish your trusty fine-tooth comb. With a more low-key tousled texture than a cut with short sides and more length on top, a longer style is ideal for creating the perfect bed head hair.
This look is all about keeping things laid back but retaining a certain amount of control over your hair. As long as you don't go too wild, you can definitely get away with it in a formal or professional setting.
Ask a pro
You should ask your stylist for a cut that is layered on the sides with at least four inches of length. Get them to blend the length on top so it fits with the rest of the style. These are just a couple of general things you should build on as they will be able to give you a more tailored style to fit both your hair type and your face shape.
How to style
When styling out-of-bed hair with a longer cut, you want to aim halfway between grunge and polished perfection. For this, all you have to do is apply a small amount of putty back through your hair before your shake your fingers through it. Shape with your hands and twist and tousle small sections to help create a piecey look.
Alternatively, spray a texturizing salt spray evenly throughout and scrunch. Again, twist and tousle individual sections of hair then re-spray and scrunch again to finish.
What do you think, could you see yourself with a longer tousled look or is the Don Draper way the only way?
