Half hawk hairstyles are a big thing to commit to. After all, the result is a buzz cut on virtually half of your head and a non-negotiable side sweep for a long, long time. In short, it's a hairstyle you need to be 100% sure about before you commit.
The good news is that you can fake it with a faux hawk, should you want to road test the look or only wear it for one day/night out. Commitment-phobes, you're all welcome here!
What you need:
Step one: Scrunch some fixing mousse evenly through damp hair and blow-dry. This will give your hair plenty of shape and body before you get down to any serious styling!
Step two: Once dry, part your hair to one side using a tail comb for accuracy. Comb the hair through to fix your part in place.
Step three: On the side with less hair, comb everything flat against your head then smooth a small amount of shaping pomade onto your locks.
Step four: Pin the flattened hair underneath the loose hair at the nape of your neck. If you want to add extra detail, twist the hair in small sections then pin them back.
Top tip – If you don't love the idea of pomading your hair, there is an alternative. Pull the hair tight and pin at the nape of your neck. Then, spray a little fixing spray onto the palm of your hand and smooth it over the hair. This will give a sleek finish and tame flyaways without the heavier texture of a pomade.
Step five: Complete your new faux hawk with a generous mist of finishing spray and you're done! If you want a more volumized look, curl the loose half of your hair before you apply the finishing spray.
