A messy bun is one of the hottest long hairstyles of the season and works well with straight, wavy and curly hair. It looks chic and keeps your tresses off your neck and back. It's super versatile too! You can wear it just about anywhere – while running an errand, having coffee with your friends, at the movies, or sometimes even to work (on casual Fridays perhaps?)!
To create a messy high bun, you'll need:
- A hair volumizing spray
- A fine toothed comb
- Hair tie
- Bobby pins
- A fine-hold hairspray
Get the Look
Gather all your hair at the crown of your head to make a high ponytail and secure it with a hair tie.
Spritz the volumizing hairspray generously along the length of your pony and tease your hair by back brushing until it doubles or even triples in size.
Please note: Please be gentle while back brushing your hair; you only want to create volume, not damage or break your strands.
Twist the ponytail around the base of the hair tie to make a bun. Secure the bun with bobby pins.
Gently pull out a couple of face-framing wisps to complete the messy look and set your hairstyle for long wear by misting it with your favorite hairspray.
Styling Tip: Wondering how to detangle your teased hair? Just apply a generous amount of hair conditioner on your hair and comb your tresses gently using a wide toothed comb
