Actress Amanda Seyfried hit the red carpet at the Ted 2 New York premiere recently with one of her most impressive hairstyles yet: cornrows! Evoking nineties nostalgia with ease, the style was a welcome change from Seyfried's trademark waves and quirky ponytails.
Why we love this hairstyle
Instead of half a dozen or so braids, this hairstyle featured just four chunky rows that tumbled down her back into a nonchalant knot - think glossy and polished in the front and a carefree party through the lengths. It's the best of both worlds!
Get the look
At the crown of your head, divide the hair into four sections- leave the underneath free, as this is how you will create Seyfried's laid back knot. At the hairline, take one section and divide that again into three equal parts as you would to begin a normal braid.
Next, braid the small section at the hairline. As you continue to braid, add hair from the section you're braiding into the cornrow. Add new strands of hair evenly for a uniform look.
Continue to braid and add hair as your work your way down.
When all four braids are complete, tie the ends together with the underneath lengths to create a relaxed knot.
Complete the look with plenty of hairspray for added shine and hold.
