How to get a runway inspired bun hairstyle

Textured bun

One hairstyle that seems to be gaining in popularity right now is the big, textured bun. We love this runway inspired look, as seen at Nanette Lepore's spring 2015 show among others. It has a slightly windswept look with a glossy finish, making it ideal for both a day at work and happy hour drinks afterwards.

This hairstyle is also impressively versatile. It's the kind of look you can sea for a workout, a casual weekend outing, or just to put a chic spin on laundry day!

Get the look

Step one
Start by brushing your hair through to remove any tangles, then apply a serum to smooth down frizz and flyaways.

Step two
Sweep your hair up into a high ponytail on top of your head and tie.

Step three
Apply a volumizing spray throughout the lengths of the pony, then tease it with a fine-tooth comb.

Step four
Twist the pony loosely then wind it into a bun shape, tipping it slightly forwards as you do so. Use as many bobby pins to make it feel totally secure. After all, you never know when you might have to run for a bus or something!

Step five
To add that all-important gloss, spray your hair with a high-shine finishing spray. After that, lightly muss the style with your fingertips to create a subtle mohair finish. Re-spray with finishing spray when your done for added hold. That's it!

What do you think? Where will you rock this runway-inspired bun?
