How to fake a blowout with dirty hair

Day 2 "blowout"
Day 2 "blowout"

If there's one thing that will guarantee a great hair day, it's an airy, voluminous blowout! There's nothing quite like it when you want to make your hair look and feel amazing, even when you haven't washed it. Yes, even if you have dirty hair, you can still get a commercial-ready blowout, or "blowout" in minutes.

To find what you need to do, just follow the tutorial below, no blow-dryer required.

Get the look

Step one
To start, spritz your roots with some dry shampoo then brush it out to absorb excess oil and refresh your mane.

Step two
Flip your hair over to your favorite side, then brush it through again to fix it in place. This will add volume and help to lift the hair and prevent it from looking lackluster.

Step three
Apply a heat protectant spray evenly through the lengths of your hair, then use a flat iron to smooth your hair. You don't want to straighten it completely, just eliminate any kinks and waves that make your mane look unstyled.

Step four
At the ends, curve the hair slightly inward to get that blowout look - the same kind of movement you would get with a barrel brush and about 20 minutes more styling if you were doing a real blowout.

Step five
Complete your finished hairstyle with lashings of hairspray. This will keep flyaways under control and give your "blowout" long lasting hold.
