Getting a haircut is one of those things that can be regulated - you should be going to the salon every 6-8 weeks in an ideal world - but sometimes, it's easier to judge when it's time for a trim by listening to what your tresses are trying to tell you.
To help you decipher exactly what that might be, we've put together a list of the ways our hair likes to communicate.
It's not unusual to have a bad hair day from time to time, but if they seem to be more frequent than you're used to, it could be time to see your hairdresser.
2. Looking odd for no reason
When there's something not quite right about the way your hair looks and you can't pinpoint why, it could mean that your hair has grown enough to throw your style out of whack. Luckily, a quick trim will fix it in no time.
3. Getting really dry
If your ends feel way dryer than normal, it could be because your hair is damaged, and the only way to deal with that is to chop off the ends.
4. Tangling... a lot
Whether in the shower or with a brush, when your hair starts to take a long time to detangle, it could be because it's damaged. That said, this will happen during winter anyway, thanks to scarves and high collared jackets rubbing your hair up the wrong way.
It's not exactly unheard of to have the odd split end, but when you start to see a lot of them, it's time to get rid.
If you can't make it to the salon right away, you can tame your hair with the right styling products, and help to soothe dry ends with a nourishing mask. Just don't put off the appointment for too long as split ends can work their way up which might mean you have to remove more hair than you really want to.
