This season, the top-knot has transformed from lazy-girl up-do to one of the most coveted and sophisticated hairstyles, seen on runways and even on the red carpet. It's an easy way to keep hair out of your face, and keep you from sweltering in the hot summer sun – no wonder it's become so popular!
And while it's obvious that the style itself looks tres chic, the powers of the top-knot go so much further than that! Get The Look is introducing you to the top-knot facelift, a super high, super slick bun that will not only tighten your entire face but also keep the summer humidity from messing with your natural texture. Plus, if you get a little greasy, it's easily camouflaged!
Supermodel Lily Aldridge was recently spotted wearing the trend, complimenting it with a red lip and a contoured complexion that emphasized her high cheek bones achieved by the top-knot.
It's pretty, smooth, and easy to achieve, here's how it's done!
#topknot come through!! the beautiful #lilyaldridge last night with #hair by me || I prepped hair with @theouai hair oil then used my @ghdhair flat iron to get hair super smooth. The I used @oribe gold lust oil at the roots and a fine tooth comb to gather the hair into a super high ponytail. I sprayed an @ibizahairtools smoothing brush with @kbeautyhair pure glitz hairspray to gather all the hair then used a hair elastic to secure. Then I put gorilla snot gel on the ponytail and twisted it around until I tied a knot with the hair. Then I secured with bobby pins and French pins. After I went in and smoothed any flyaways with a small wooden brush that was sprayed with more @kbeautyhair pure glitz hairspray.
Start off by separating your hair into two equally divided sections – top and bottom. Next, smooth out your strands with a hair serum and a brush to ensure complete perfection.
Pull the top section of hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic. Make sure to brush any loose strands up into the ponytail as well.
Bring the two sections of hair together with an elastic, twisting the bottom section as you bring it up to the top. Wrap the twisted section around the first ponytail, then wrap them together into a bun. Secure with an elastic.
Secure the twist with bobby pins and hairspray, and voila! A top-knot facelift!
