There's one hairstyle trend we can always rely on, year in, year out, which is, of course, tousled waves. This season's take on the look is all about middle parts to create an understated, symmetrical style, whether you go for glossy mermaid waves or a messy bed head finish.
How will you rock center parted wavy hair this summer?
Get the look
1/ Loose waves
To get larger, looser waves, use a 1 1/2" curling iron or your flat iron. For the best results, don't curl the hair all the way to the root, but stop roughly 2 or 3" inches from the scalp. After curling, mist with hairspray to finish.
2/ High-shine curls
Starting with dry hair, apply a straightening heat protectant evenly throughout, making sure you get even coverage. Use a 1" curling iron to curl the hair from the tops of your ears, down to the ends. After curling each piece of hair, clip it up in a loop to cool so the strands set into long lasting waves. Once all of your hair has been curled and cooled, unclip it and shake your fingers throughout.
3/ Bed head waves
Spritz dry or damp hair with a wave enhancing heat protectant, then blow-dry it in twisted sections to create natural-looking waves. Once it's completely dry, use a 1" curling iron to add more waves as needed, shake your fingers through your mane, and finish with hairspray.
