The messy hairstyle trend is here to stay and, if you're as into it as we are, we have just the updo tutorial for you! The windswept style above can be done by anyone with medium-length hair or longer and it looks flattering on everyone thanks to the soft silhouette.

To find out how to recreate it, just follow the steps below.

Step one
Starting with freshly washed, towel dried hair, apply a volume-enhancing mousse evenly throughout.

Step two
Divide your hair into three sections - top, middle and nape - then blow-dry it until it's about 90% dry. Then, using a brush to guide your hair, blow it back off your face, to complete the drying process. This will set the hair in the direction you want to style it in.

Step three
Once dried, spray your hair with a volumizing spray, then ruffle with your hands to add texture. To add extra height, re-spray and use your fingertips to massage the roots.

Step four
Whip your hair up and pin it into a messy knot or French twist at the back. Once the updo is secure, use your fingers to tease some wispy pieces of hair loose in order to create a messy, windswept look.

Step five
If you need to, you can loosen the hair on top by sliding your fingers underneath and gently lifting it up. Then, for long-lasting hold and to prevent frizz, complete your messy updo with plenty of finishing spray. All set!
