As far as summer beauty staples go, disheveled, textured hairstyles are great for creating a gorgeous, carefree look. This deconstructed side braid is a really easy way to rock the look, mainly because it's easy to achieve and you can dress it up or down depending on your mood/the occasion/your boss...
It takes roughly the same amount of time to do as a regular, polished braid so there's really no reason not to try it on your own tresses! Convinced? All you have to do is follow the tutorial below!
Prep freshly washed towel-dried hair with a volume boosting mousse then rough blow-dry. This will help to lift the hair from the get go, which will make creating a big ole mess really easy later on.
Part your hair on one side using a tail comb for accuracy then flip all of your hair over the opposite shoulder.
Divide your hair into three noticeably uneven sections. The bigger the size difference, the more intricate the finished look will be. Before your braid them all together, braid one section and secure at the ends.
Braid all of your hair loosely into one large plait. Remove the tie from the smaller braid and use it to secure the ends of the whole thing. Pull the braid out at the elbows to loosen it further. Roll it between your palms and tease some sections loose at random all the way down.
Use pins to secure any major sections that fall out at the back and sides then spray your whole style liberally with a strong hold finishing spray for added shine.
Say hello to your new favorite side braid!
