Cannes 2016 hair trend: the half ponytail
From the article : Cannes 2016 hair trend: the half ponytail
Day 1 of the 69th Cannes Film Festival saw a plethora of beautiful long wavy locks, braids, and twists hit the red carpet for the premiere of Woody Allen's Café Society, but there was one hairstyle in particular that seemed to stand out from the rest.
L'Oreal Paris ambassadors Eva Longoria , Doutzen Kroes , and Bianca Balti all seemed to have the same idea when it came to their hairstyles of the evening. Each beauty donned an effortless, half ponytail that was meant to appear as if each woman had achieved the look without the help of a glam team.
Perfect for the effortless, summer season, the half ponytail is a versatile, bohemian look that can be worn from day to night (or in this case, from the red carpet to the hotel), and achieved in a number of different ways.
From bows to twists, and everything in-between, find out how to achieve the half ponytail – inspired by L'Oreal's muses!
DOUTZEN KROES' MINIMALIST HALF PONYTAIL
To accompany her simple, yet elegant black Brandon Maxwell gown, the Dutch beauty opted for a simple hairstyle that appeared to be easily achieved. We love that her natural waves and dishevelled fly-aways gave her hair a romantic, bohemian vibe that makes for the perfect summer hairstyle.
To recreate Doutzen's simple hairstyle, start by spraying your hair with a protective heat spray and gently curl your ends with a wide barrel curling iron. Using a fine tooth comb, gently back comb the roots on top of your hair for a little bit of volume. Tie half of your hair (the top section), behind your head in a ponytail and secure with an elastic. Release a few strands of hair around the front of your face to achieve Doutzen's dishevelled look, and finish with a satin finish hairspray.
BIANCA BALTI'S ACCESSORIZED HALF PONYTAIL
Italian muse Bianca Balti decided to compliment the black lace details of her Alberta Ferretti gown by tying a pretty velvet ribbon into her half ponytail. This subtle touch adds the perfect dose of femininity to her look.
To duplicate Bianca's look, begin by spraying your hair with protective heat spray, and curl the ends of your hair with a medium barrel curling iron. Bring a few pieces of hair from the sides of your face back into the form of a mini ponytail, and twist the pieces as you join them together. Secure the two pieces together with an elastic, then wrap a ribbon around the base. Spray your locks with an oil spray for maximum shine.
EVA LONGORIA'S TWISTED HALF PONYTAIL
Eva Longoria brought a medieval twist to her Cannes hairstyle, tying her locks back into a twisted half ponytail that perfectly complimented her gold shadow and simple, beaded white gown.
To get Eva's twisted ponytail, use a matt and messy spray to create a dishevelled look, and scrunch the hair to create texture. Take two strands of hair from each side of your face, and roll the strands over one another until each side is twisted. Intertwine the two twisted pieces together with an elastic at the back of your head to create the illusion of a braided, half ponytail. Finish off with a generous amount of volumizing hairspray to hold the texture.
