5 Tips for Healthy and Gorgeous Hair this Year

Is having healthy, beautiful hair one of your new year's resolutions? It should be! Just making a few changes to your haircare routine can make a considerable difference on the quality and appearance of your hair. Here are our five top tips for gorgeous hair through 2016...

1. The right products

Always use a shampoo and conditioner that are tailored to your hair type. If you have colored your hair, for example, be sure to wash with products designed to prolong and beautify the shade in question, otherwise you might find yourself fading fast. Just as you would with skincare, think about your hair's needs when it comes to washing.

2. Pamper time

Take some time for yourself once a week and apply a hair mask - in the bath or before going to bed for example. Especially important in the winter months, when the cold and wind can cause damage to our hair, a mask nourishes the fibers and gives you healthy, glossy locks.

3. The best way to brush, or not!

The golden rule is never to brush your hair when it's wet. If you have some serious tangles, use a wide-toothed comb instead. The type of brush you use is also important. Boar-bristled hairbrushes are gentle on the hair and don't create static.

4. Dry it right

Rubbing your hair vigorously with a towel can also cause damage: splitting ends and creating frizz. Instead, squeeze your hair with a cotton tee-shirt to soak up excess moisture before blow-drying. Speaking of blow-drying, try to avoid drying your hair 100% and use a low temperature to avoid heat damage.

5. Regular trims

A visit to the hair salon every couple of months will keep your hair looking healthy and feeling happy. Just an inch off the tips from time to time will ensure you don't suffer from split ends.
