While most of us love the warm weather, we don't love the sweat that it brings, ruining our perfectly put-together hairstyles on a daily basis. Sure, it's easy to throw your hair up into a bun on the top of your head when things get a little too hot to handle, but it can often look messy and undone.
Start your summer morning beauty routine off right by creating a cool, sweat-proof up-do before starting your day! Need some inspiration? We've put together 4 simple ideas for wearing your hair up on hot summer days.
THE HIGH PONYTAIL
The ponytail is one of the easiest, and most on-trend hairstyles to sport this season. Rather than simply throwing your hair up into a ponytail and securing is with an elastic, take the time to create a sleek, up-do that will be appropriate from day to night.
Start by brushing your hair to the back of your head, and securing your ponytail high on your head with an elastic. Use a straightening iron to flatten the hair within your ponytail to create a sleek, put-together look. Lastly, take a portion of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the base of elastic, creating the appearance of an elastic made from your own hair. It's celeb-approved and easily achieved, so why not try it?!
If you really want to keep hair out of your face this summer, opt for a pair of halo braids – or in other words, braids that sit on each side of your head and connecting at the back, creating the appearance of a halo or crown.
To get this look, start by parting your hair down the center and grabbing a small section of hair from the front portion of one section of your hair. Start French braiding along the side of your head, and all the way to the back, then secure with an elastic. Do the same to the other side of your head then use a bobby pin to connect the two braids at the back. Voila, you've achieved a sweat-proof 'do!
If you aren't so talented in the hair department (or are simply too late to try a complicated up-do), opt for a hair accessory, like a scarf! Scarves are great for the summer because not only will they keep your head from sweating, you can play around with them and wrap them whichever way you prefer. For full coverage, place the scarf at the top of your head and tie it at the nape of your neck.
THE TWISTED BUN
Buns are known to look messy and undone – but not with the right style! If you're in a rush, simply pull your hair back into a ponytail and secure it with an elastic at the nape of your neck. Then, twist the ponytail, and wrap it around the base of the elastic, creating an elegant-looking bun. Secure with bobby pins.
You can also re-create this style anywhere else on your head, whether it's at the top, bottom, or two twisted buns on each side of your head, this is one style that won't let you down!
