  • The "I can't believe it's not a chignon!" chignon
  • Messy side topknot
  • Messy scrunchie bun

Sometimes, theres no better hairstyle than a messy one, and now that disheveled bedhead hair is a huge trend, there's never been a better excuse to take a lazy girl approach to your mane!

We have three easy updos for you to try, all of which can be done in a matter of minutes. All you need to do is pick one to start with...

1. The chignon alternative

Apply a straightening cream to damp hair and blow-dry it. Once dried, tie your hair back into a low knot with an elastic. Gently pull the knot out until there's some slack, lift it, then pin it to the back of your head so it looks like a disheveled chignon.

Tease a few strands loose to frame your face and soften the look, then finish with a veil of hairspray.

2. Off-center topknot

Blow-dry your hair as above, then sweep your locks up into a high ponytail on one side of the crown of your head. Twist the pony then pin it down to form the top knot.

Muss the style all over with your fingertips to add texture, then finish with hairspray.

3. Scrunchie bun

To get a perfectly tousled texture, mist your hair with salt spray, then scrunch it through. Respray and keep scrunching until you have natural-looking waves. Gather your hair up high, then use a scrunchie to tie it into a large, messy knot on top of your head.

As with the other two styles, complete the look with hairspray to protect against frizz and unwanted flyaways.

What do you think? Which messy updo will you try first?
